What is the development marketplace all about?
The Development Marketplace (DM) is a competitive World Bank program implemented in Cameroon by the World Bank Country Office and Catholic Relief Services (CRS), which has as objective to select and fund innovative projects with high potential for development impact.
This competition attracts innovative or original ideas submitted by associations, NGOs and Common Initiative Groups operating within the Cameroonian national territory.
The objective of the competition is to offer an opportunity for innovative ideas on strengthening community participation for better local governance of Education, Health or Forest Resources.
Actually, the Cameroon Development Marketplace program has singled out three sectors from which projects can be developed to improve governance in Cameroon within the context of decentralization. These sectors are: Education, Health and Forest Resources.
As regards Education, applicants are expected to propose projects that can increase community participation and transparency in the management of public educational institutions at the local level.
As regards Health, applicants are expected to propose projects that can improve and strengthen community participation and transparency in the management of local public hospital institutions.
As for the management of Forest Resources, applicants are expected to propose projects that can improve community participation and transparency in the management of forest resources.
